Vehicle Gateway Models

All Samsara Vehicle Gateways (VGs) provide cloud connectivity for real-time and historical tracking of sensor data. VG installation steps and compatible cables and accessories depend on the VG Model and vehicle type.

All VGs share the following base functionality:

• Installation method

• Dashboard functionality

• Data collection functionality

• Location tracking functionality

• Diagnostic information collection and surfacing within the dashboard for compatible vehicles

• Reporting logic

Compatible Vehicles	All vehicles	Compatible with all vehicles. Recommended for light duty vehicles.	Recommended for heavy and medium duty vehicles: Heavy duty vehicles are determined by Samsara. If you receive both VG54 and VG54-NAH models, Samsara provides you with a Vehicle ID spreadsheet to easily match vehicles with correct VGs for install. Medium duty trucks refer to truck Classes 6-7, which have a gross vehicle weight rating range of 19,501- 33,000 lbs.

• Cables: VG34s use B-Class cables while VG54s use C-Class cables

• Different Panic and Privacy Buttons

• Different Auxiliary Input setup

• Diagnostic hub setup: VG34 requires an additional hub, but the VG54 does not

• USB ports: The VG34 has 1 USB port. The VG54 has 4 USB ports.

• Camera Connectors are only compatible with the VG54
