When you enable voice coaching, the Samsara Dash Cam plays in-cab audio to alert drivers of the detection. Drivers can use this real-time feedback to adjust their behavior to maintain safety for themselves and others on the road. You can enable and configure audio alerts for your entire fleet or at the individual vehicle level.
The voice coaching setting is supported for the following dash cam models:
-
CM12
-
CM22
-
CM31
-
CM32
-
CM33
-
CM34
For more information about in-cab voice coaching settings, see the following topics:
-
AI-Detected Audio Alerts: In-cab audio alert settings for AI-Detected events such as Following Distance and Distracted Driving. By default, events trigger a Safety Inbox event and impact the safety score. To alert drivers before the safety event is triggered, see In-Cab Nudges (Alerts).
-
VG-Detected Audio Alerts: In-cab audio alert settings for events detected by the Vehicle Gateway (VG), such as harsh events and speeding. To configure these settings for your fleet, see Configure VG-Detected In-cab Voice Coaching for Your Fleet.
-
Configure In-cab Voice Coaching for an Individual Vehicle: Configure AI-detected or VG-detected settings for one vehicle or a subset of vehicles.
When the AI detection is enabled and the AI dash cam detects a safety behavior or policy violation, the dash cam plays an associated in-cab audio alert to notify the driver of the detection. You can configure in-cab audio settings for your entire fleet or on a per vehicle level.
When you enable the AI Event detection, by default, the behavior triggers a Safety Inbox event. Based on your configured settings, the behavior automatically generates a Safety Inbox event. For more information about AI detection types or to configure the setting for your fleet, see AI Event Detection .
When you enable in-cab audio for an AI-detected behavior for one vehicle or a subset of vehicles, you must also enable the Safety Inbox detection. For example, if you want to enable Following Distance Detection Audio Alerts, you must also enable Following Distance Detection Safety Inbox. Similarly, to enable Policy Violation Audio Alerts, you must also enable the corresponding Policy Violations Safety Inbox event.
To view the full workflow to enable or disable audio alerts for one or more vehicles, see Configure In-cab Voice Coaching for an Individual Vehicle.
You can enable audio alerts for VG-detected safety events such as harsh events, speeding, and VG-detected unbuckled seat belts. From the Voice Coaching setting, you can Configure VG-Detected In-cab Voice Coaching for Your Fleet or Configure In-cab Voice Coaching for an Individual Vehicle.
When this settings is enabled, you can choose Driving Events to Coach with audio alerts:
-
In-Cab Speeding: Dash cam alerts driver to "Reduce speed." For more information, see In-Cab Voice Coaching for Driver Speeding.
-
Maximum Speed: Dash cam alerts driver to "Reduce speed" when the vehicle speed is above the Maximum Speed Threshold.
-
Seat Belt Unbuckled: Dash cam plays "Your seat belt is unbuckled." (for more information, see No Seat Belt Detection).
-
Harsh Driving (Acceleration, Brakes, Turns): Dash cam alerts driver "Harsh event detected." For more information, see Harsh Event Detection.
