Camera Privacy

Samsara dual-facing cameras, such as the CM32 and CM34, provide the ability to monitor both road-facing and inward-facing views.

If you use dual-facing cameras, inward-facing footage of the vehicle cab is automatically uploaded and saved to the Samsara dashboard after a Safety Inbox Event, such as a Harsh Event Detection or an AI Event Detection. Footage Permissions

Access to view or retrieve camera footage is viewable to users with the following roles:

• Full Admin or Read-only Admin roles

• Custom Roles with the Safety permission to view Inbox & Report.

In addition, users that have a custom role with Live Streaming permissions can initiate a live stream that includes inward-facing video and in-cab audio.

At your discretion, footage can be downloaded and shared with police or insurance companies as evidence.
