There are two main deployment options to set up your Site Gateway:
For ease of deployment, you can set up the Site Gateway on the same network as your cameras. With this type of deployment, the Site Gateway simply requires an Ethernet connection from the standalone port on the Site Gateway to your existing corporate network. With this setup, you do not need to connect your cameras directly to the Site Gateway.
By default, the Site Gateway will acquire an IP address in the corporate network using DHCP. Alternatively, you can configure a static IP address for the Site Gateway from the Samsara dashboard .
The following images display the setup for each Site Gateway model.

If your cameras are deployed on a separate network, the Site Gateway can either join a pre-existing camera network or act as a DHCP server and host a new camera network. These scenarios are further described and illustrated as follows:
If you already have a pre-existing camera network, you can connect it to your Site Gateway.
To connect your SG1-G to a camera network, you can connect the bottom Ethernet port to your pre-existing camera network.
To connect your SG1x to a camera network, you connect any of the 8 Ethernet ports on the Site Gateway switch to your pre-existing camera network.
From the Samsara dashboard, you can configure the Site Gateway to accept either DHCP-issued IP leases or statically assigned IP addresses.
The following images display the setup for each Site Gateway model.

If you want to create a new camera network that is separate from the corporate network, the Site Gateway can act as a DHCP server for your cameras. After you connect the Site Gateway to the corporate network, connect your cameras to the Site Gateway either via a PoE network switch that you connect to the bottom Ethernet port (SG1-G) or to one of the 8 ports on the gateway (SG1x). To support more than 8 cameras on the SG1x, you can cascade additional PoE switches from the 8-port switch.
With this setup, you must configure the Site Gateway to act as a camera server from the Samsara dashboard.
The following images display the setup for each Site Gateway model.
