Integrate with Kestrel Insights

The integration between Kestrel Insights and Samsara streamlines the usage of geofences in fleet management by automating the creation of highly accurate polygon geofences. This eliminates the previous limitations of having to choose between less accurate circular geofences and the time-intensive process of manually drawing polygon geofences.

Requirements

• Kestrel Insights: None

• Samsara:

  • API access with Read permissions

  • (Optional) If you want to limit access to a group of assets, it is recommended to assign Tags to those assets in the Samsara dashboard.

Deployment

Kestrel Insights built the integration and will assist with deployments as needed. Follow the steps below to get started. If there are any issues, please contact Kestrel Insights Support.

1. Log in to the Samsara dashboard.

2. (Optional) Tag any relevant geofences with Kestrel Insights Tracking if you want to limit access to only those assets.

3. Install the app integration.

   1. Select the Settings icon ( ) at the bottom of your Fleet menu and then click Apps.

   2. Search for and then select Kestrel Insights to install the app.

   3. If you tagged your geofences to limit access, change the access scope from Entire Organization to the tag name.

   4. Agree to the terms of the Samsara Data Import and Sharing Addendum.

   5. Click Generate Token.

   6. Send the API token to Kestrel Insights ([e-mail]) and request the Samsara integration.
