Note
This policy will take effect on June 21, 2024. The policy update is provided in advance to give you time to plan any device upgrades.
To allow for innovation and keep customer data safe and secure, Samsara updates its system requirements for the mobile apps as needed to maintain an excellent customer experience. Read on to learn about our support lifecycle policy and see which types of mobile devices and app versions have recently reached, or will soon reach, the end of support. When a device is no longer supported, the driver will not be able to log in to the Samsara Driver App. If you're using any of the devices or versions listed, upgrade to continue using Samsara mobile applications on Android and iOS without interruption.
Samsara will review and make annual updates to this policy going forward in accordance with Google and Apple’s operating system (OS) release timelines. The next update to this policy is planned for November 2024.
We take security seriously at Samsara. As part of our overall guidelines, we recommend only using our mobile apps on devices using OS versions actively supported by Google and Apple for security patches. Our policy is set up to align with their security practices.

While any device that meets the above specifications will support the use of Samsara mobile applications, we recommend reaching out to our partner network if you need guidance on which specific device models are best suited for your needs. Please reach out to your Samsara representative for assistance.
You can still use devices that do not meet the preferred specifications to sign in to Samsara mobile applications as long as they run Android 8.1 or later, or iOS 12.2 or later. Similarly, if you use the Samsara Mobile Experience Management solution, you can provision devices running these versions in the dashboard.
However, by using these devices, you may be unable to
-
Receive updated versions of the Samsara mobile applications
-
Use certain features or will have a degraded experience
-
Receive troubleshooting support

As a complimentary feature to the device policy enforcement for the Samsara Driver App, we are also introducing a new Mobile Device Support Report.
